Thanksgiving

Calum had a lot of company for Thanksgiving. His Mama and Daddy forgot to take pictures though! How horrible!
Calum spent the Friday after Thanksgiving with Damon and me (of course), his Nana, Great-Grandmama, Great-PawPaw, Great Aunt Terry, Great Uncle Derrell, and my cousins, Holly and Kara. His Uncle Jeremy had to stay in New York for Thanksgiving.
On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Calum spent the day with us, his MawMaw, Uncle Jason, Aunt Bethanie, and cousin Tanner.
Here is Calum with me and my cousin, Holly.

Kara, Me, and Holly:

Calum got his first cold after Thanksgiving. I did not like it. It is never fun to see your baby not feeling well. I am glad I have Damon, because putting saline in his nose and suctioning it out every morning and night is tough. Calum would cry and just sounded so pitiful. Damon got stuck doing it most of the time as I was there to offer snuggles and kisses to make it all better. Lol! I am happy to say it only lasted about a week.

Two Month Well Baby Checkup

Calum had his two month check-up today (11/13/12). I was very anxious about this appointment because I knew he would have to have immunizations.
Calum weighed 13lbs3oz and measured 24inches long. His pediatrician said that put him around the 75th percentile for weight and the 90th percentile for height. This time he did not get upset when measured.
Calum actually did very well for his shots too. He got three, but the immunizations totaled eight. Several are combined so he doesn’t have to get so many shots. I’m glad because three was enough. Calum only screamed for about 15 seconds, then he just whimpered a little and was smiling by the time we got his clothes on and were leaving. He did very well! I got teary-eyed. Damon told me I should have waited in the car. I couldn’t have done that! I needed to be there for my baby. Actually Calum ended up comforting my feelings more than I comforted his, I am sure. He was such a big boy and I was an emotional wreck!
Calum slept off and on for the rest of the day. We didn’t have to give him any Tylenol. I wanted to avoid giving him medicine if at all possible. He never got a fever from the shots and he didn’t get fussy either.
I hope when he goes back in January, for his 4 month immunizations, that visit goes just as well!

Ready to go!

And here he is, my naked boy, “flying” with Daddy, while he waits for the doctor.

I Spoke Too Soon!

Yesterday I wrote in the two month post that Calum loves sucking on his fists, and that I was hoping he would outgrow that before he found his thumb or fingers to suck on. I was afraid that habit would be hard to break, as I can’t very well get rid of his fingers like I could a pacifier.
Well, today I found Calum asleep in his swing… sucking his thumb!!! Uh oh!

Calum at 2 months

Calum is already two months old (11/10/12)! Time is flying and the thought of going back to work is excruciating. I wish I could be a stay-at-home mom and spend all my days with him, but that is just not a reality for us. So, instead I am enjoying every minute I have with him.
Calum is sleeping for a 7 hour stretch each night. He is a really good sleeper. When I put him down for naps he never cries. Often he will lie there and just look around until he falls asleep. He thrives on a schedule, and although it varies often, due to visits, errands, and other reasons, he does really well.
He has finally developed a love for his swing. He really enjoys it. He still loves his bouncy seat and has developed a liking for his other play seats as well.
Calum still loves to be swaddled when he sleeps. I think he definitely sleeps better that way. Sometimes he will sleep all night with his arms swaddled, and sometimes he will wriggle around until he frees them. He loves to suck on his fists. You can hear him all the way across the house when he really gets after them. I hope he outgrows this before he gets coordinated enough for individual fingers or a thumb. I don’t want him to develop that habit, but I can tell by him just sucking his fists, that it isn’t so easy to prevent.
He is now wearing 6 month sleepers, due to his length. He doesn’t fill them out in the tummy area, but he definitely needs the length.
He still gets the hiccups every day, multiple times a day.
Calum has discovered his voice. I thought it was so funny that one day he is just giving a few coos here and there and the next he was spouting the news report. It is too funny. He doesn’t always “talk”, but once he gets started he doesn’t stop for a while.
He finally has noticed our dog, Sugar. For so long she would run around and sniff his hands and feet and was always just a part of our everyday activities, but he never noticed her. Just the other day he finally looked at her and followed her with his eyes as she walked around the room. This time, when she sniffed his hand his eyes got big. It was cute.
Calum loves bath time! We give him baths in our master bathroom, which has large mirrors over the vanity areas. Calum loves to stare in the mirrors and will look at our reflections instead of turning his head to look at us. When water is splashed on the mirror, he often stares as the water slides down. He really is cute and makes the cutest faces during bath time.
Calum is still being bottle fed breastmilk. He is up to 150ml, about 5 ounces. I am freezing my extra milk in our deep freezer and we have tons! I am so glad that even after I go back to work and stop pumping he will still have milk for a while before we have to switch to formula.
Calum’s two month well-baby appointment is November 13th. He will get several immunizations, which will probably cause his mommy to be very sad. I am excited to see what his measurements and weight are, though!
Here is a picture comparing his size at one month (left) and at two (right).

Here are two more pictures of my little guy on his two month birthday:

Baby Pictures from One to Two Months

Calum wants to tell you all about his pictures!

My Mama was toting me on a walk around the yard with Daddy. Daddy doesn’t like the “ears” on my hat, but Mama sure thinks they are cute!

Close your eyes for a minute and someone is going to take a picture of you!!!

My MawMaw loves me!

I love my elephant onesie! It says, “Be strong and courageous.” Joshua 1:9

Here is my tummy! Can you see that my umbilical cord is still on?!?! Did you know they put a suture in it while I was in the NICU and that is why it wouldn’t fall off?!?!? My Daddy finally solved the puzzle and fixed it. My pediatrician didn’t even figure it out. Now I have a cute little belly button!

I am not much for close up pictures, but my mommy doesn’t care.

All bundled up to go out, but I am getting a little sleepy

Guess who!

This was my first time in my big boy seat. It was a wild ride!

Daddy put me in the bathtub, but there wasn’t any water! I think I have a vibrating bouncy seat somewhere around the house that would have worked too!

Mama and Daddy took me out, all bundled up like an Eskimo, to the University campus for something called Homecoming. I slept most of the time in my stroller, but here I am with Mama in Gorgas Library. My Mama has an obsession with things called books.

I am a really good sleeper!

Again- sleeping- but this time on my Daddy’s shoulder

Here I am, watching my favorite show, football, from my big boy seat. Mama put something soft behind my head that made it a little easier to keep my head up. I’m getting my practice in. Before long I will have this neck stuff down pat.

I’m a cutie!

I think I need to take people’s cameras away when I decide to nap.

I’m getting ready to watch the big game! Alabama vs. LSU!

I couldn’t handle the stress of that game. A nap sounded better!

My “Auntie” Erin got me the cutest fire truck outfit!

Why did Mama take a picture of me crying?

Hmmm… more pictures of me asleep! What’s the deal?

Baby’s First Election

Calum went with us to vote in the presidential election. The women at the voting poll were quite smitten with him. I can completely understand. He is quite the cutie!
Here he is, ready to go and very excited!

Voting took a lot out of him. He needed to re-energize.

Daddy got our picture, again, later that day. Calum is getting so big!

I’m a Horrible Blogger

I am sure you have noticed that I am H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E at keeping my blog updated! I try. I try to keep my blog posts written, even if I am not getting them posted. I am just finding it hard to find time to upload pictures and get them all organized with my posts and getting them put online. We did finally get internet at our new home, so now I have very little excuse. But… I will surely come up with one. It is the last day of 2012 and I am about to post things from October through December.
Enjoy!
